I started to do more yoga during the Pandemic when gyms were closed, and Peloton became a lifeline for variety. I have steadily added to my Yoga collection of tools and wanted to share my favorites to make yoga more fun, so you have what you need for your practice.
-First up is a good yoga mat*. It gives some cushion for your knees during cat/cow and is a nice thing to have when you get to shavasana at the end.
-The next thing I think is important to add is yoga blocks*. It helps to lift the ground up to you as you begin to work into deeper poses.
-A strap* is also nice if you have trouble reaching your toes.
-One of my favorite additions is my yoga blanket* my mom got me for Christmas during Covid. I LOVE it. I love the color palette, I love the weight of it when I settle in to my final poses, and I love how it supports me in Easy Seat.
-I also asked for a yoga bolster* that year, and while not necessary, it’s lovely to have to set up extra support in chest-opening poses or twists.
-My latest addition, while not a yoga tool is a great final step in my practice to calm my nervous system and relax tense muscles. It’s the ProSource Acupressure Mat*. Tiny little needles encourage the body to release endorphins that block pain and help relax the muscles massaging your back, neck, and feet. It’s fantastic for recovery.
I’m still a relative newbie to yoga, so I don’t know what else needs to be in my arsenal, but if you have recommendations, please share in the comments.
